Want to know the best TikTok filters and effects you can use in your videos to spice them up a bit?

Look no further!

In this article, we will list 15 of the best TikTok filters and effects. These filters and effects will help your videos stand out. The more appealing your videos are to TikTokers, the higher chance of them appearing on the ‘For You’ page.

As a bonus, we will also see how you can search and add these filters/effects to your videos.

Before we dive into the list, let’s look at the difference between TikTok filters and effects.

What are TikTok filters?

TikTok filters are very similar to Instagram filters. You apply them to videos to change the feel and color of the video. TikTok filters come in four default categories: Portrait, Landscape, Food, and Vibe. Each of the categories comes with different coloring options you can choose from.

What are TikTok effects?

Want to have fun and get creative with your videos on TikTok? Then use TikTok effects. By using TikTok effects, you can completely change how your videos look. You can use a green screen to teleport yourself to any location, change your hair color, make yourself look like an alien, and lots more.

TikTok filters just change the feel and color of your videos. But with effects, you can also add things to your videos.

The main TikTok effect categories are Trending, New, Interactive, Editing, Beauty, Funny, and World. (You will have to choose the effects you want to use before you start recording)

There are additional effects you can use to modify your videos after recording. They include:

  • Visual: You can use this effect to change the look and feel of the video after recording. For example, you can use this effect to add stars, rain, or bubbles to your videos.
  • Sticker: You can use this effect to add stickers to your videos. Note that only 1 sticker effect can be applied at a time.
  • Transition: Tap this effect multiple times to repeat transitions on your video. You can use it to zoom in or rotate your video.
  • Split: You can use it to split your videos into up to 9-frame collages.
  • Time: You can use it to create time-warp effects. This effect allows you to reverse, repeat, or slow-mo your videos.

To locate these additional effects after recording your videos, tap on the effects icon at the bottom of your screen.

Then select the kind of effect you want to add to the video.

4 TikTok filters you should use

The truth is that TikTok effects are where all the fun is. With effects, you have a ton of options to choose from. Most of the filters on TikTok are similar. Even at that, here are some TikTok filters you should check out.

Portrait F3

This filter lightens your video. It makes the dark areas in your video look lighter. If you want to make your video look warm and also increase the contrast, then check out Portrait F3. The filter also adds a bluish tint to your video.

Portrait S5

PhotoGrid Plus 1605086558727

If you want to make your video look intense, Portrait S5 is the way to go. With this filter, you can add more contrasts, saturation, and shadows to your videos. This filter adds a dramatic effect to your video.

Vibe V1

Vibe V1 is famous for its retro, charcoal-y look, which is great for making your videos look dark. If you want your video to look like a 1900’s motion picture production, then check out Vibe V1.

Vibe V6

This is my favorite TikTok filter. This filter will add a purple glow to your video. The filter instantly warms up your video making it look like you under a purple bulb. If you want your video to look like you are having a party, then Vibe V6 is the way to go.

11 TikTok effects you should use

These are the top TikTok effects you should try out.

Green Screen

PhotoGrid Plus 1605093798881

This is one of the most popular effects on TikTok. This effect allows you to change the background of your video. TikTok offers a couple of default images you can use as your background. You can also pick any image from your camera roll to use as your green screen background.

Time warp scan

TikTok’s Time Warp Scan effect has blown up in popularity in recent weeks. The main feature of this effect is that it distorts any image on the screen. Time Warp Scan is similar to the panorama photo effect. A blue line moves down or across the screen, freezing the image on the screen when it passes.

A couple of challenges and trends have sparked up because of the effect. People are using this effect to create doubles of themselves, distort their eyebrows and faces, create smoking effects, and make objects appear like they are floating. Depending on how fast you can move, you can create some fun videos with this effect.

My favorite trend with the effect is the #TimBurton challenge. TikTokers are using the effect to turn themselves into Tim Burton-style characters. While the blue line moves across the screen, users pull the skin of their eyes down and push their cheeks in to make it look like they have sunken faces. Similar to the characters in Burton films.

This is a very fun effect on TikTok. This effect adds disco lights to your videos. If you want your video to look like you are having a party, then check out Disco.

This effect allows you to create 3 clones of yourself. Note that all versions of the trio will be doing the same activity, making it perfect for choreographing. Most TikTokers use this effect to participate in the latest TikTok dance challenges.

Trisection 2

This effect allows you to split your video into different sections on the screen. You can split your screen into 9 different sections. Similar to the trio effect, all of the characters in each section will be performing the same activity.

If you want to split your screen and also perform different activities in each section, you will use the double screen effect.

Double screen effect

This TikTok effect will allow you to divide your screen into two. Unlike the Trisection 2 effect, you will be able to perform different activities on each screen. You can easily move from one section of the screen to the other. The effect is great for showing how you will behave in two different situations.

This is hands down the most dramatic effect on TikTok. The Tear effect makes it look like you have tears running down your eyes. When the effect is activated, your eyes will become a pool of tears. When you blink, the tears will run down your cheeks. Remember to have a box of tissues if you plan on using this effect.

Color customizer

If you want to increase the quality of your video, use the color customizer effect. This effect will sharpen all the colors in your videos making it look brighter.

You can also use this effect to increase the color saturation of your video. If you want your video to have a particular color, you can use choose from the slider provided on the screen. You can also use the effect to dull the colors of your video.

The BlingBling effect adds sparkles to your videos. This effect makes your TikTok videos pop by adding shining lights on your video.

Long face

This is one of the funniest effects you can add to your videos. This effect warps your face and makes you look very funny. As the name implies, the effect makes your face look long and wide. If you want to have fun, then check out this effect.
